UPS Rant- is it common?

Thats what I love about my UPS guy, been knowing him for years and he always makes sure the package is delivered even if I'm not home, he would even come to my work to drop off a package, now FedEx, I've stopped purchasing from companies who ship with FedEx. The driver in this area does the bare minimum, a few shipments watched him blowing right past the house on the highway and then put "No one at home to recieve package"! Also the time it takes for Fedex to deliver a package, I'll watch a package get close, then go futher away, get closer, then futher away, the way they route their hubs is ridiculous!

Yeah when it's all said and done it really just depends on the individual driving the truck.

I used to work maintenance at a Fedex automated ground facility in south Fl. One evening while outside I saw a box laying on the side of the road. It was an outbound order of live marine animals. I gave the box to a supervisor and managed to get it out on time

I have problems with UPS also. It got to the point that I have my deliveries held at UPS facility and pick them up myself. Less than 5 mins away and the idiots can't find my house. FED EX has never let me down nor has the USPS. I spend extra to have it shipped with FED EX & USPS when its available to avoid UPS at all cost. I would never risk live fish or corals with those guys. I guess I'm not alone.

Is UPS known to claim "receiver refused delivery" on their tracking, especially when the driver never came around? I was home all day and it's impossible for me to miss them.

I normally don't order things online, and when I do, it's usually through normal postal or FedEx.
Seems like most aquarium related items are through UPS.

this is the 3rd time it has happened to me in the past 2 months. and all 3 times, the items gets turned around and right back to the sellers.
Thankfully Drs Foster and Smith worked with me to resolve the issue painlessly the first time. Second seller wasn't as helpful but I did get what I ordered. Both delayed me 2 weeks.

I hope BRS is just as easy to communicate with for this shipment (I had ordered the 2 part dosing kit)

Now I am worried about my live animal shipment that I believe is also through UPS.

Is this common for UPS? I am beyond annoyed. Waiting for UPS to get back to me.

Ups stated on their tracking that my package had been delivered. I looked outside my front door and no package was there. No note left either. Called UPS and they said that the package was still on the truck and that driver said no one had answered the door. The package was filters for my RO/DI system. They say that another attempt would be made tomorrow. Next day Same thing happens and I'm upset and tell the call center that I was home all day and nobody came to my door. On the 3rd day the driver called me and I met him at the door. He told me the other drivers never could get into my condo complex because they did not know the gate code. He got in behind another car. Nonsense cause I've gotten many packages before with no problems....lazy drivers is what I think.

Guess I've been lucky... since I started this tank about 2.5 years ago I have had many deliveries, both goods and livestock, from both fedex and ups. Packages there on time every time. For the overnight stuff both literally hit my door at 10:30. Once I think I got one at 10. It's been easy for me because I work at home and always here. Most of the time though I never hear a door bell or a knock but thankfully have a dog that barks if someone even looks at the door. Generally though I prefer Fedex as they always come much earlier in the day than UPS for normal deliveries. Funny thing is most of the people that require signatures are the ones that don't guarantee anything anyway other than maybe 1hr from delivery. I generally don't order from people like that or ones that require signatures.

I'm very lucky I guess. Both my FedEx and UPS distribution centers are a block apart and just over a mile from my house. I have all of my live orders held at these locations and I pick up the orders promptly at 9am.
My dry goods are delivered to my house and I have the same problems that everyone else seems to experience.

You could try asking the driver why it's late. Take pictures. Hold them accountable for damage. I think our pets need to be handled properly. We are charged for live shipping but in my experience UPS doesn't care what it is. It's getting tossed around. Let's just say I know for a FACT that they throw, drop, and play games with packages. So lesson learned. I personally refuse to do business with a company using UPS for live shipping. I would prefer no shipping by ups at all, but Amazon...FedEx is pretty awesome here. I hope your live stock will be ok.
Thanks, what I really wish is that my LFS had the corals like I see on line and the equipment I order off Amazon which most of the time is half the price the LFS sell it for. I won't even go into the day I walked into one of the UPS stores to pick up a pkg with live corals and fragile stickers all over the box and stickers saying "This side UP" which it wasn't and the very unsmart person behind the counter. To late in the evening to get into it.

Here's a good one checked fedex tracking and it said re schedule next day atempted delivery on a live shipment . Little did the FedEx driver know we have 16 cameras in place and when check to see attempt. At his stated time video show his truck go by a 60mph never stopped well after a phone call to fedex I got my shipment same day driver never even looked me in the eye

You can set up a free UPS my Choice account and have items held at the nearest UPS hub for you to pick up. This is nice when the item is expensive and you don't want it left outside.
Around here they charge five dollars or more to hold at a local UPS Store.

I've just about given up ordering anything more this year from anyone. I had one package to be held at post office and it was delivered to the house. I found it laying in the middle of the driveway about 20 feet from the road...my driveway is about 80 feet long and it's 12 more feet to the front door. That wasn't the first time a held package got delivered or they try to deliver a held one, then take it back to the post office....because it was undeliverable. FedEx either drops it in the driveway and say they left it on the porch or stuff is broken and I file a claim report and never hear back from them. Or the package is a day or more late and it's not covered by the guarantee of delivery time. UPs has it's ups and downs too. But is better than the other two. Only other choice is Craigslist...but everything is an hour or more from the house. I'm about to just give up..
