USA orbit marine loop lighting reviews?

Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light, 18 to 24-Inch: is this a good light system for a RSM 130D? I think I found the light I am going to upgrade to and wanted to see what other people had to say about it. Ty!

Hi! Thank you for commenting. I figured there was a catch considering the price was low compared to other systems out there. I do have mostly LPS one rose BTA, purple Stylo and a birds nest frag are my only sps at moment.

Lps are more my experience level so sticking with them for a year or two. I have a jumbo frogspawn, hammer corals and I want a maxima clam badly

The light is garbage ime. It’s bright enough to keep lps right under the light but the spectrum is awful. My corals never liked it. Just save up and get an Ai prime. You won’t regret it.

I’ve heard good stuff about the pro but it’s in the same price range as the prime and the prime is #1 in its price group.

Currently running at RSM 130 D stock lighting (compact t5’s) which I just bought new bulbs for two weeks ago but the LED just gives so much better color and pop.

Thank u glad I asked first. I just love how it’s got different settings and it’s dimmable and it’s more like the natural sun vs what I have now which is full intensity when you turn it on and all day (until the moon lights come on).

Cool. Ty. Maybe it’s just me like when I go to the LFS (They run LEDs) the corals/colors just looks so much better

I have the orbit marine IC pro, which is two lights. The controllability is good, and the spectrum is good, but it just isn’t powerful enough for anything other than softies and low light lps. I would not even try to put an anemone or a maxima under it, and some of your lps might suffer too. If this gives you any indication of how weak it is, I am having to keep my green star polyps in the top half of the tank.

If you want led but don’t wanna do multiple AI prime’s, a lot of people love reef brite. Infact you can run your reef brite with your t5’s.

These lights arent good for anything but softies. I have them but I had to supplement with T5 (4 bulbs) to grow sps. My sps growth is ok but not great. I just bought an Orphek OR3 LED bar to see if it can help.

color and pop isn’t simple as just lighting, it also has to do with what you’re feeding, supplementation, and how happy the coral is.

It’s not a very powerful light. I started my tank with one and it kept things alive but I didn’t get much growth. It does look nice, but I’d go with something else. Even the IC version has better diodes and 90 degree lenses, but it’s still probably not good enough to keep your anemones happy.

I swapped mine out for a Mars Aqua and the tank growth took off.

I forgot to mention, even if you want to stay around the $100 budget for led’s mars aqua and viva make nice black boxes (which are adjustable ) and sell on amazon :)
