hello all,

I am having a problem with my utter chaos. I have a display tank and a frag tank. Both have Zoas doing great in them but my utter won't open. It opened for a week when I got it but that's it. I have put it in both tanks and dipped it. I tried a different polyp before and it did the same thing. Are these Zoas harder to keep than others?

Thanks

I don't really have any suggestion on what is wrong with it. But I can tell you my experience. I have tons of different zoas and palys. Utter chaos is the fastest growing most hardy "high end one I have". Never had an issue with em. I currently have a ton of frags I just made no issues. Now I have had a similar issue with my fruit loop colony. It's some kind of parasite. I don't know what kind. I have 2 colony from two different sources. One colony is great! The other has issues. I tried coral dip, didn't have any luck. So I did a fresh water dip. 3 day later it opened up. Some polyps melted but 90 % lived. A month later it did it again. So I repeated the fresh water dip. I waited for it to open gave it a week and did it again. Haven't had another issue. It's been about 6 months now.

I have the opposite issue as John S. my utter chaos are super touchy and there is usually casualties when dragging. And I've fragged tons of high end zoas such as JF ****** and have better survival with those haha.

How long did you do your fresh water dip?

I've had some luck dipping in iodine or hydrogen peroxide, never tried a fresh water dip. Also, for what it's worth, my utter chaos are the hardiest of the upper echelon zoas I have.

I think you need to move it ... its getting too much light and watch out for fish
that might like to nip on it. Any chance posting a pict. Do you run led for light?
