I have a red sea emax 260, with 2 AI Hydra 26 LEDs about 10" above water. I have been struggling with the UV settings for these lights. I pretty much only get live stock (corals) from my LFS. I matched the settings on the lights per Red Sea recommendations with exception of UV. They recommend 118% UV- and I dont seem to be able to get anywhere near those levels.
This is what I currently have:
The problem is on the LFS Frag tanks they are running T5s, and their frags look great. When I get them home I usually place them in the sand bed for a week or so to let them acclimate to new lights and then move them up in the rock work. It seems like after a day or so of moving them up I get lower polyp extension and some loss of color in the frags. I attributed this to too much light, so I reduced the UV to 40%. LPS (Hammer, Torch, Duncan, GSP, button polyps etc seem to do great but SPS (Monti dig, Stylophora, Acro, Cap still seem to be low in color and polyp extension.
My other water params are fine- I dose B-Ionic 2 part and NO3PO4-x daily. Do you think I should lower the UV channel even further? What UV settings do you run?
