That type of birdsnest grows like that when its hit from one side by more flow than the other. If you keep your birdsnest away from the powerheards or on the bottom you should get normal growth from them and be able to sell them for a few bucks once they are grown out. I had trouble selling colonies that big for 50 bucks when I was growing them and they were grown out perfectly. All depends on the people in your area I guess.
