I've had great sucess with Ecotech products, been running XR30s and MP40s for years so it would be nice to have everything all in one app but I've come across some mixed reviews on the Vectras. My new tank is here and will need 2 of each, just can't decide what to go with. Will be using 1 for a return in sump and the other externally on a dedicated UV closed loop.

Let me know your longterm feedback on either of these. Thank you!

After the L1 disaster I stayed away for the Vectras for a while. I used the L1's for my closed loop.
The L2's came out and they seemed to have fixed the heating problem that cause a early death.

A few years ago I needed a return pump and gave them a try and have been happy with the M2. It's been running on my 66 gallon tank for maybe 5-6 years.
I had a issue with my current closed loop pump and picked up a used L2 and it was just as silent as if it were new.

I have not used the Syncra 9.0
So I can't comment on that one.
I have used a couple of the smaller Syncras and they seemed dependable.

Good info thank you. It does seem like most of the issues were with the first gen pumps. I'm leaning towards a pair of L2s, maybe black Friday will bring a sale ha

Their initial launch and a lot of hobbyist complaints. The one thing they had in common though, from what I read around the web, is that they took care of the problem pretty quickly. In some cases still took care of the hobbyist if it was outside the warranty.

Of course there are always warts but as noted above they worked through the issue and we do not see many of those trends now. Really comes down to the hobbyist personal preference. The one thing that stood out to me is that you like the idea of a centralized control point. That would staying in the EcoTech family.

Both are reasonable pumps - whatever you choose good luck.

I had the sicce sdc 6.0. It worked flawlessly for 4 years until I broke the tank down. Has built in water temp and alerts. I have no experience with the Vectra. My current build will be using the 9.0 and pumped from basement to the display directly above to the 1st floor.

I like the vectras better than the Sicce

One thing to consider is the warranty. Sicce is a 5 Year Warranty, Ecotech is 1 year. May not be important to some, but worthy to consider.

Also another note is if one is going to use a controller. In this case I believe it is a tie. Ecotech probably requires the MXM module whereas the SICCE is using Neptunes IOTA layer so no module required. Check this though before in case you go that route.
