I have QT'd all my fish so I am somewhat ignorant when I actually get something.
In this case, I managed to cross-contaminate the DT from a QT. Only the tang and flame showed any external symptoms.
All my healthy, fat clam eating fish are now in a 55g QT. Lost the flame after 4 days, probably my fault as I think possibly the O2 levels got too low for his abused gills to handle.
The fish I have in the original QT came from LA. Never showed any sign of disease, outwardly looked like they could go straight into the DT. Used the current HotRocks QT protocol @ 1.75 ppm copper. They're still clean but have no home.
I can't do a transfer at the 14-day mark this time so I'm assuming that this means 4 weeks before removing the copper. I don't expect the anthias to survive that long in copper.
I also have a satellite tank that I don't isolate from the main tank. So far nothing has shown up in that tank. It did take about 3 weeks before it was obvious that I had a problem. I suspect the initial contamination was very low and it took a number of cycles before the velvet population reached a level that bothered the fish.
Not the best pictures. The classic velvet look really showed on the flame with the blue lights. The tang was mostly annoyed spending a lot of time visiting the cleaner goby.

Why not just buy another used tank for the anthias? Just curious what all fish are in play right now.

Craigslist can be your friend, buy someone’s old FW setup cheap, clean it and there you go.

Don't need a tank. The anthias don't like copper long term, at least they didn't during QT. They will stop eating. A different tank will not help.
Not sure the point since I already have 2 QTs running for weeks now. If the fish in the satellite DT show symptoms I will have three QTs running. Equipment is not an issue.
I do wish I had the foresight to pick up a used 55 and store it "just in case" but I didn't. The 2og QTs have worked for my previous dozen QT sessions. I can tell that the stability in the 55g is much better but I don't have the room for 2 identical 55 setups. Wish I had a basement like Hotrocks. If one has the room I think 55s work better, very narrow but long which tangs prefer. When I put the tang in the 20g it went insane.

The point of the post is to verify velvet. Another point is the risk of contamination. The item was sitting out of water for several days. I don't think I let my guard down other than that stupid move. I actually did not think these fish had anything, they looked and continue to look perfect. Also, it took three weeks before it was obvious I had screwed up. I'm thinking three weeks observation will be a minimum in the future.

It does look like velvet... I’m sorry :(

If you have a larger tank for the group, maybe just transfer the anthias only to a smaller tank after 14 days... maybe one of the 20g? Or pick up a 10g for them?

I know space can be an issue, when I was going through this I had most of my DT fish in a 40b, and two smaller tanks with fish I had already ordered before the outbreak, but couldn’t move to the display. And another separate QT for my mandarin.

I felt like I had a QT on every usable space in my house lol

Thanks. The tang at first looked like what I see in the pictures of brook. Mostly a cloudy look to his skin.
I'll consider moving the anthias if I still have options and they quit eating. They seemed to eat LRS fish eggs so I've added that to the mix.
Tang still visits the cleaner goby more than I'd like but he looks completely clean now. I did do a round of Kanaplex to help them along.
One nice thing about a bristletooth is they keep the fish poop cleaned up. Nothing to vacuum.

Agree with diagnosis of velvet. Looks like you have a game plan. Best of luck
