Has anybody done/seen a vertical frag rack like this yet? I was thinking of ways to fill my tank/frag tank with as many frags as possible and knew the sides were being wasted.

I feel the angle in which the plugs face limits or totally negates shadowing from the plugs above, especially if the coral is glued onto the bottom half of the plug. This lets you put as many brackets as you like right under the other.

The spacing was mainly designed for zoanthids/Palys on small plugs which can be altered to fit larger corals.

On a 4.5" x 9.5" piece of egg crate I can fit up to 28 plugs. :loco:

haha thanks, It was pretty tedius. Just those 12 brackets took me maybe an hour to cut/glue. The more I do it the quicker I'll get.

You might want to try staggering them so you'll hopefully get an increased amount of lighting hitting each frag plug. I like the idea as well but will need some testing to see if the ones lower down get enough light.

I wanted to maximize the potential of the first one, since theory was, shadowing would be at a minimal. Staggering would leave me with 1 less bracket every other row. If I find that staggering will greatly impact the availability of light, future ones will have that.

Nice, I like it. The slight slope will help with the no shadowing effect. Not sure yet if it'll be needed. Thanks for the idea.

Very cool idea. As soon as I find the time I am SO going to build one of those. Both my 24g frag tank and 55g local/QT are overflowing with frags. I need room bad and going vertical looks like the way to go! Coral skyscraper condos!

very nice and this can be mounted on the glass as wel to make it look more neat frags will still get enough light to grow, great ideal....
