alright so im thinking of getting a reefkeeper lite. i have a few questions about this. can i hook my jbj ato to it or do i just leave it seperate? also i want to be able to monitor my ph so would this do it or would i be better off getting something like a pinpoint ph monitor?im am getting ready to get my tek 4 bulb t5 fixture so im guessing i can run my lights on the rkl. do i really need the rkl?

dude, forget reef keeper, Apex is the one you want. Im going one step above that and going with the Proflux 3

I guess first of all, what are you planning on keeping? Corals, fish, size of tank, etc...

I don't think everyone needs a controller. I have one (Apex Lite) and love it. Do I need one, probably not. Would I ever set up a tank without one... No. Just being able to check my temp/pH from work on my iPhone and being able to see the status of everything is awesome.

i am planning on keeping some lps and soft corals maybe some sps higher in the tank. my tank is a 55 gallon with a 20 gallon long sump/refugium. i would like a controller to turn my lights on and off. something i can use to dose kalk. i dont know if you can hook a jbj ato to a controller but i just ordered one so if i cant ill just have that seperate. i would like to monitor ph and temp from the controller. also something that i can use to turn my return pump and powerheads off when feeding. and i have 2 occelaris clowns a couple shrimp and my cuc plan on adding a few more fish though.

The lite will be fine for what you need. The jbj ato will be a separate unit and no need to take up programable outlets. I like having the ato on a dj power strip so it can be easily turned off during cleanings. You can always add more outlets as you grow.
