Hi, the lights are very bright and the whites seem quite overpowering, but if you put just the white on 1% and turn the blues off the tank will look very yellow and as soon as you turn the blues on the light appears a whiter light I run mine on 35blue 4white 9 inches above the water and it looks like this.

Mine looks way whiter than yours. I wish I could mod it to dim about 50% more than it does. Anyone know if it would be possible to disconnect several of the white diodes without effecting anything?

I think you should give it a chance, depending on what's in the tank I would start low either 25-40 blue and just 1 white and see how the corals react. Also dont forget that it's a new light to you and it depends what light you are used to looking at the tank under, it will seem different. My photo was taken on pro mode on my phone and looks duller white wise. I run just blues for 2hrs at the beginning of the light cycle then both blues and whites for 5hrs then just blues again for 1.5hrs at the end of the day.

Im sure your adjusting the correct channels but make sure your adjusting blues higher instead of whites? Mine is at 100% blues and 15 whites and everything looks great in my tank and I dont have a really white lit tank

I'm sure. The whites just don't dim all that much.

I have one over a 20 gallon long. I like the light very much. 12 inches above the tank I get 200 par in the middle directly under the light and 65 par at the far right and left. My settings are 22 for blues and 10 for whites. Par measurements with an Apogee par meter.

One of the 300watt ones would cover perfect but may be two much light. For mixed reefs I find having a smaller light to allow for low light on the edge let's you do sps in the center, softies at the edges and LPS in between. Could probably use just one 165watt. For 24 inches deep I would run 50 blues and 20 whites. Should be around 200 par in the middle and 80 on the far right and left near the sand bed with light 12 inches above the water. 12 inch deep tank I would recommend closer to 20 blues and 10 whites.

I'm starting to think there's an issue with my light. My tank looks nothing like the pictures people are posting.

I bought a viparspectra. I have 5 lights to replace. I set it up, turned it to 100% blue, 1% white and don't like the color at all. Very white. Will not be using this light. Went and ordered 5 hydra's. If you are looking for more blue I wouldn't order this light.

Can't you just shut off the white channel. If your going for blues

Thinking about getting these as I am on a budget with my new 75g I see a lot of you run these lights. Do you recommend for a mixed reef?
Absolutely recommend them! They are pretty cheap and grow coral well. For a 75 you’ll want 2 of them. I have a 180 with 3 over it running at 100 blue channel and 15 whites right now.

Beautiful tank man. Are there any limitations to what type of coral you can have with these? Sorry if it's a dumb question still learning all the ins and outs lol

Thanks! If there are any limitations I haven’t found them. They are plenty strong enough to grow everything that’s I’ve tried. I’ve had various sps lps and softies and it’s done well with them all. I really like that they have built in timers so you don’t have to worry about turning them on and off every day.
