Was listening to the radio this morning, I heard about a National Science Week (here in Australia anyway) citizen science initiative that might be of interest.
The Virtual Reef Diver Site is run by Queensland University of Technology and works by uploading thousands of images.
It then asks people to sign up and work through classifying different features in the photos, Coral types, algae etc. This is then used by the statisticians to update the status of the Great Barrier Reef.
I was going to sign up and have a look. I’ll let you know how I go.
