My first tank of this size, 180 gallon dual overflow by aqueon. Sump I made out of an aqueon 55 gallon with 1/4" acrylic baffles. This project has taken me about 6 weeks to get to this point and many many trips to lowes. I hard plumbed it with 1" pipe. Made my own half canopy to cover the ugly lights and give my cats somewhere to lay. When filling with direct rodi my cats knocked out the hose overnight. Let's just say that next day was very time consuming. Here's my list of equipment I chose.
Simplicity 320dc skimmer
2 icecap 4k gyres
2 kessil apx9's
Innovative marine hydrofill ato
Skimz quietpro 6.0 1585gph return
Finnex refugium led
Coralife turbotwist 6x uv light
Tropicmarin pro reef salt
Brs 7 stage rodi with 0tds
120lbs live rock from tropicorium (local coral farm)
8 bags caribsea pink fiji sand
Brightwell No3 plate pieces
Brightwell bio plate soaked in bacter7
Added bio spura as well
Hard to tell from the pictures but there's alot of caves and plenty of room behind the rock for flow. I plan on doing another mixed reef. Thanks for looking, jeff

This looks like it is going to be an awesome build. Your stand, sump, and really the whole tank so far have come out great. Any idea of a stocking list for this tank? When are you planning to add fish and corals

I'm planning on waiting a month or two, let that bacteria grow for a minute. Im going to try to take this tank as slow as I can go

This is a pretty epic build. I am super impressed with your skills.

What kind of saw was that in the picture?
Just a Bosch smaller handheld router. The 1/4 inch plexiglass i cut with a dremmel saw-not the rotary tool. I try with the skills, not that good but I had fun doing every part of this build

Lol, the plan was taking him out of the 60cube and into the 180. I planning on this guy staying small/fingers crossed
I asked my wife should I rehome him and she said no. I said ill need a bigger tank, she said OK. Thats the reason we have 11 savannah cats, she doesn't like giving up any animals

well it took about 30 minutes to catch him out of the 60 cube. Just used a wood dowl rod, net and some dried seaweed. Oh and some choice words of course. I didn't even tear anything up. I still have about ten fish in the cube but it looks bare now. He adjusted well, no heavy breathing and took some seaweed on his clip

We have a couple new friends such as a lawnmower blenny, six line wrasse and a purple tang. All been in for week and all doing great. The purple tang was listed as 2 to 3 inch, I requested one closer to 3 inch. I received a good 5 inch tang, i was so happy with nyaquatics.
