I was out of the hobby but previously used vortch pumps circa 2018 with no issue.

For my current tank, I just purchased 4x vortech MP 40's. ( at $479 each) They are brand new. Words cannot describe the frustration from the amount of issues and the abysmal customer service from ecotech.

All of the pumps are brand new with manufacturing dates Jan. 2026. Only one pump is recognized under devices in mobius. For an inexplicable reason, the other 3 appear under " legacy devices" even though they are brand new. Then it always fails when trying to update legacy devices. I have tried myriad of things (resetting the drivers, deleted tank from mobius and re made the tank, checking the RF chip inside the drivers, etc, tried powering on individually, Etc ). Still cannot connect to mobius and only one shows up. Was hung up on by ecotech customer service.

The pumps will also randomly go into some kind of error mode where they start spinning and sucking in water running in reverse. And this is not from not being magnetically aligned because they will be aligned running perfectly for a few hours then suddenly run in reverse. One was spinning around when i came home and the dry side was red hot after working perfectly for 24 hrs.

Has anybody been through this?

If that is the only devices on your app, I would delete the app and start fresh. If you have other devices on the app. I would try to add them only one at a time and if they update delete them after each one and move on to the next. Once all are updated then add the updated pumps to your tank.

I've never experienced mine running backwards. I have had trouble with newer ones wet side wanting to spin. Running for a week or so on constant at a low speed seems to help with that. Did you buy from a reputable retailer with a good return policy? If so I would reach out to them and return them if you can not get any help from the manufacturer. I have 6 MP40s and Two MP10s but I'm replacing them with Tunze as they fail. You can't beat tuze support from Roger who is a member here and very responsive. I just did a warranty replacement and he sent a new unit immediately and didn't even ask for a deposit but trusted me to return the defective unit. It was all handled right here via private message. You won't get anything near that type of support from ecotech IME. Ive been waiting over 5 years for an update to fix Mobius inability to keep track of the correct date and time but I'm rambling now.

I hard reset each pump after deleting the tank. I think they are now running normally in analog mode not connected to mobius. Can they be run like this long term?
As infuriating as it is a $500 pump not working via internet as long as i have flow

I love tunze products.
but cord outside of the tank and the only seeing the small profile of the puck inside the tank with no wires going into the tank is a much better look and thats why i was essentially forced to go vortech
