Vortech question

All you Vortech users out there, are your running your MPs with that little foam ring on or off in your reef tank? I have it on but food keeps getting stuck on it.

I don't use them. They just get dirty and need to be cleaned. I do have anemones and have apparently been lucky that none of them have detached from their rock and ended up in one of them.

8 vortech running. I used the foam on 1 one time and never again because they get dirty too fast. The foam is meant a a protector like a nem guard but there are probably 3d printed guards if someone needs one. I've never felt the need for one. My nems have never wandered off the rocks.

you only need those if you have anenomes honestly. i replaced all my heads though with anenome safe hard plastic rather than that soft foam that got dirty with food so fast.

I have 6 vortechs and I don’t use the foam on any of them. Even the tank with an anemone I use a 3d printed guard.

Without, but I do use the wide flow limpet guards instead of the stock.
