I bought a nice 4 inch war coral a month ago. It is growing over the plug but has a dead mouth on one side. It looks like the dead area may be a bit larger. Should I leave it alone or dip it?

Yup I dip the coral in Bayer for 15-20 min to see if pest comes off it.

Nice colony! I always dip all corals, regardless of any indication there's something wrong. I would dip it if I were you.

It might be just a spot where detritus settled and killed tissue, or it might be a gall crab home. I'd play it safe and check with dips.

With Bayer, a lot of people have different dosages. I personally use 0.5ml to 2 cups water. I've never found anything resistant to that strength except the usual MENs and polyclad worms.
