Water Change amount question

10% weekly or 20% biweekly is the rule of thumb I believe. So 12 gallons weekly or 25 biweekly would be my suggestion.

I do 20% once a month and everything seems to fine.

thats what i was thinking 20 gallons a month or 5g a week, but im thinking 5 gallons wouldn't do anything as in trace elements or taking out Phos..

which i have been doing 10% every 2 weeks which is about 15g and my Phos stay below .05,

Im just trying different stuff..

Shoot I'm doing 20% a week but that's just me. If your parameters are all staying stable then you're good. If you're getting good growth, low nitrates, etc...then stick to what you're doing. I have soooooo many sps and high end stuff I just don't wanna risk the chance of a tank crash. The way I look at it is $50 for 200 gallons of salt mix or lose multiple pieces valued at way over that.

oh i see your point of view now...I only have a couple sps mostly lps which 50 bucks isnt bad for 200 g of reef crystals..i think thats the most expensive overhead in this hobby
