Waterbox 45.2 Build Thread

Alright so I have been out of the hobby for about a year now but now that life has settled a little I am back. I use to just have small AIO tanks but I recently found a Waterbox 45.2 marine x (discontinued) on CL for $450. That included the tank stand sump and return pump. I couldn't beat the price. So I have everything set up and have my RODI water filling in my Brute trash can as we speak. Waiting on the light which will be an AI prime 16 to start (will upgrade probably to a hydra 32 in a couple months once things are up and running. Plan is to eventually get a cor 15 return pump, Nero 3 wave maker, and run a refugium. I have live sand and life rock that I will be using along with algae barns quick cycle turbo boost kit. I have had good success with it in the past and hoping for the same this time. I lightly stock my tanks with fish mainly just a couple to add movement. Main focus will be a mixed reef. I kept SPS pretty well last time and plan to do the same. Hoping by summer to have everything connected to an apex.

I am from northeast ohio so moving this tank during a blizzard was tons of fun! I am glad it is in place right next to my desk for work so I can enjoy this all day. Will keep posting updates as we move along.

Feel free to comment and add questions or suggestions. We all know there is no such thing as a perfect tank so I am always open to suggestions!

I know its nooby, but I am a sucker for Euphillia. Throw some wall hammers along the backside of the tank and stock up on torches!! What're you thinking of adding?

It will be a mix reef leaning towards sps but my fav coral is a gold hammer. Im not a huge zoa fan but there will be a few but many lps and sps

Rock in with water finally got the sump dialed in ....for now. Trying to get rid of the waterfall noise but other than that it's cycling with fritz turbo and ammonia.

Little update. Tank is now cycled waiting on my light to come in so I can move some stuff in Bought a small tank that came with some livestock so they are currently being held in there. Got a couple emo nemos to go in to start and will probably add a couple smaller fish as I do not want a ton of fish in here. Any suggestions on other fish?

With clowns that large, theres not a lot I would put into the tank. Usually clowns are to be added last... You'd need to get other aggressive fish.

Update: My two emo nemo's are in the tank and doing well. They picked out a nice cave to call home. Gonna keep the tank far for probably a couple weeks to hopefully help qwell some of the blooms that will happen. Got a hydra 26 that will be out on when ready and was able to score a full apex for an unbeatable price so will be setting that up and building a board or buying a cabinet but I only have 8 inches between the tank and my desk so it's gonna be a tight squeeze

UPDATE: Tank has been running dark for about a month now. Have some basic equipment on it now but going to be adding a nero 3 and running an apex in the next couple weeks. Also going to be stocking it full of coral here in the next couple weeks as well. Going to upgrade the pump to a cor20. The apex is going to be hidden behind the wall in this closet as seen. Probably going to switch out the Hydra 26 for 2 AI Prime 16s. Super excited to finally get this thing going!

UPDATE: Tank is doing well got the good ole diatoms going so snails are busy taking care of that. I am buying a fellow reefers entire setup this weekend so will be adding 1 more fish and a bunch of established coral to the tank. Nice size colonies to really fill this thing out and some frags. Very excited. Pictures to come next week once everything is in.

Alright update finally bought someone else's tanks setup and used slot of equipment and coral from that tank. Got the apex hooked up and going to be adding a 2nd prime16 soon. All the controls are hidden behind the closet next to the tank so nice and clean.

Updating the post again. Added a 2nd AI Prime 16 to the tank hooked up a trident (was not planning on it but why not) and got a few more corals. Added some chateo to the refugium and put an AI Fuge on it. getting some pods and phyto next week. Going to hopefully be getting some nice acro colonies to place at the time soon. Maybe 1 more fish.

Tank Update: Added a refugium with some Chateo about 3 weeks ago. Added some pods to it a few days ago (unexpectedly found some in my frag tank) Got a AI Prime Fuge light on it. Probably going to start adding some acro colonies that I can frag but also add some shape to the top of the rock structure in a couple weeks.
