I need some help from you guys. I have an Orphek OR120 Blue plus strip, I added it to the tank to see if there is any benefit, I did notice a nice color pop. So my question is should I get another OR120 for the other side or scrap that idea and try to DIY a couple 5 foot T5 Retrofit kits? 1 on each side.

I had the same problem that resulted in the same tank!

You made the right call with the T5's. I'm using an ATI hybrid and the T5's are the workhorse with the LED's being a nice addition for color, dimming and pure blue fun.

What kind of roller is that? Is that the stock sump?

How have you had hardly any responses to this since March? Looks great man, keep up the good work. Tank is looking really nice. I like that you decided the T5 addition to the LEDs. I think that was probably the better choice. Thinking of going back to T5 in the future myself.

I was using just the XR15's at first, my initial thought was they only do a 60" hybrid fixture that's not gonna work, as it turns out it works great and the 6" on either side you don't even notice. My other option was to wait until the Orphek 5 foot LED bars come out but I didn't want to wait for that.

It is the stock sump and its the Clarisea SK5000 roller had to remove a few baffles.

Thank you!! I'm not sure why lol I guess no one likes this build. I must admit my other build threads got way more response.
The T5's really did add some nice color and spread. I shouldn't have to upgrade lighting even with big colonies, I hope anyway lol.

I love my orpheks. I have the Atlantek V4 gen 2 and their strip light. THe spectrum on the blue strip light is great. I am in the process of a big tank build (mainly fish and softies) and will be using 2 orphek blues per one day white.

I like the scape. My next tank will definitely be a peninsula style tank.

The only thing that lets the tank down is that it's in an unfinished basement. I do like not worrying about spills and having everything (mixing station etc.) in one spot is really nice too.

Maybe you guys can help me out with flow. Currently, I have 4x Mp40's 2 on each side of the tank but I really want to free up the viewing end of the motors sticking off the glass. I don't think just 2x mp40s is gonna cut it so I was thinking 2x mp40's on the overflow side and 1 gyre xf350 on the viewing end? this would make it a lot less noticeable but how would the flow be??

When they're clean, the gyres move a lot bigger blanket of water than a vortech or tunze. I have both. That might work, but if not then maybe all 4 vortechs on the overflow side, 2 on top and 2 bottom all in random modes.
