Drilled -installed Eshopps Prodigy overflow . Using Sea-Swirl discharge and Pro-Clear Premier wet-dry sump. I much prefer this over having the WATERBOX overflow box in the tank.

Nice work on the overflow. Any plan to get a skimmer down in the sump or are you happy with the HOB? You don't see the sea swirls too often anymore. Cool stuff.

Hey , an Octo Classic 110-ext skimmer is on the way. The HOB is plenty good - Fish probably don’t like the motor noise transferred to the tank. Like motor-boats on the water.

nice!
how was drilling it? I was thinking of the same with the 7225 just so I could get the the clear. IDK its not that much more to get the 220.6 and it come with the sump. plimbing and ATO res.
anyway I am glad you did this whats your plan for the tank?

No problem, only 2 holes for the overflow since the Sea-Swirl does the discharge out of 3-way fitting. Depending on your experience- maybe practice drilling a scrap piece?

I have a 50% success rate with drilling. of course that is on a 40br I think the thinker tanks are easier to drill. of course drilling a 1.5K -2K tank will still be stressful.

Next thinking of getting coralline algae going from a piece of live-rock.
+ it will add biodiversity too.

I’m done with filter socks and full siphon valve overflows. Elevating sump yields a little more flow (less pump head)and matches the skimmer overflow . The stand is an old sump cut in half on a table saw. My discus tank is thriving (no water changes) after going back to wet-dry bio-balls.
