Weird question?

Hey guys, so, uh, nothing to do with saltwater here. Just had a question. In a L×W×H, 30"×12"×18" tank, i have a pair of unidentified carp given by my neighbours. They have been with me for a few years now. But suddenly, yesterday the larger started bullying the slightly smaller one constantly. So my dad built a barrier out of skewers as a temporary solution. Anyone knows why this happened and how to solve this. These are the 2 fishes. The larger one. And the smaller one As well as the temporary barrier Dont mind the excess food at the bottom. Originally we thought they were lacking food but that doesnt seem to be the problem.

Interesting, as usually these fish are quite peaceful.

I know, they have been peaceful all along. Occasionaly the larger one will bully the smaller one a little but it wouldnt last more than a few mins. This time it lasted for hours and we had to make a barrier.

Carp can be aggressive towards each other especially when space is limited . Provide hiding using plants and/or rocks. These look to be what are white goldfish and if one is weaker than the other, it may promote aggression

We actually used to have a large rock, but we removed it thinking it would give them more space. I think I might put back they're favourite barrel hiding spot.

Yes, may help. The only thing with large rock is that it reduces total gallons

I just looked up what a white goldfish is and i dont think these are white goldfish. They appear to be some sort of koi, not sure. My neighbour uses the young ones of this species to feed their arowana. Thinking about upgrading tank, but not enough time and space as of now.

Yes, these are likely white koi carp after looking on larger screen

We removed the barricade cuz the fish seemed stressed. The smaller one didnt get bullied anymore! But it was deteriorating. It kept going to the surface then jumping out of the water. This happenned every 45 or so minutes. Today i saw it upside down but still alive. I flipped it, but it is still staying on the bottom.

The smaller one's gbm( gill beats per min) is 132 whereas the larger one is 42

The fish has already passed just a few minutes ago. The other carp looks really sad, just sitting in a corner, not doing anything.
