My first tank is coming up to a year old and I’ve noticed a weird stringy layer appear all over the rocks but mainly in the shady areas.

Some of these I know are pineapple sponges and some are hydroid but not sure what the rest are.

Any tips on how to remove it/ decrease the amount of it? Same thing for the hydroid and pineapple sponges aswell

How old is you tank, my friend? This looks like the warm and fuzzies to me. Just the rocks doing what they do, from my vantage point. Maybe the beginning of a certain type of algae?

Just coming up to a year old.

I know it doesn’t look like it but it’s pretty excessive and large in some places like in the first two pictues

Hydroids and often when there is lack of water flow and a food source, they will thrive and multiply
