I use both. I use my hydrometer as a quick check up but I do also use my refractometer. I figured someone would ask that after seeing the hydrometer in the picture lol

you need to seed the coralline algae, but are you regularly doing water changes? for the short term you should add some carbon to remove the harmful toxins in the tank

I had some coralline I got from my lfs and put in my tank. I do water changes every 2 weeks.
