What are these and why do they keep jumping out of the tank?

What are these snails and why do they always jump out of the tank ?!

I may be wrong, but I think they are nerite snails. I have the same snails and sold to me as nerites. Yours look like the Caribbean type, which are known to go leave the tank often.

They sometimes go unnoticed out of the tank for a week! I guess I need to make a lid

They are Nerite snails and that's just what they do if you don't have a top on your tank.

Look like nerite snails to me... they are notorious for climbing out of the aquarium.

I was sitting playing video games last month , the volume was real low on the tv. One of those made it to the front of the glass and fell off and hit the wood floor. I jumped up so hard because I thought the tank just cracked. Scared the heck out of me. Then my cat came over and started batting it around knocked it under the tank. I fished it out and put it back In the tank and it’s still truckin along. You would think they can tell they are leaving the water and gonna die.

I have a screen top and mine kind of collect up in the corners. Every week or so I gather them up and sprinkle them over the reef.

nerites live in tidal zones. rocks can be carpeted with them and you don’t want to walk there in bare feet. yes, they will explore your house. Then you’ll wonder what the dog found on the floor that is crunchy (yuck!)
