I have two types of macro algae that have hitchhiked into my tank. Both appear similar in appearance and texture except for color. None of my current stock have eaten it (Pajama cardinal, six-line wrasse, hermits/snails) and the red one is spreading rapidly. I'd like to confirm what they are so I can start maintaining them, and to confirm any future fish won't eat them.
First is the red algae. I think it's Halymenia Floridana or some similar species? It appeared on this piece of live rock a few weeks after my tank had been cycled and running, and is currently spreading throughout the tank. (I know about the bubble algae, it's my weekend removal project.)
Second is this little mound of green that is pushing out my zoas. It looks like Ulva Sp. but it is growing much slower than the red stuff (which you can see starting in several spots here), so maybe Anadyomene Sp? I see that both have the sea lettuce common name. Is there any difference in terms of aquarium care between the two?
