Hi, Does anyone know what's going on with my devils hand coral? It has been growing alot and appears very happy. Today i noticed what looks like dark rings around some of the tips of the fingers. The ringed part is almost like when you twist a balloon. Forming a ball at the tip. Is it trying to form a new fingers? Should i be concerned? Heres a few photos.

I agree, it looks happy! Nice looking coral. It's probably pinching off babies. In the next few days look for small self fragged pieces in low flow areas. Polyps will re-grow where the babies have fallen off. Keep us posted.

If you feel as though you must do something, take a soft bristle paint brush and delicately brush the dark areas to check for any signs of infection. this would be brown slime or pitting within the coral tissue which can also be confirmed with a sniff test.

It’s just reproducing by budding off some new babies. My tank is full of them. I don’t think you can kill these corals without putting in good effort.

Hi !, Just an update on my devils hand coral. It wasn’t making babies. It was just growing. It has gotten a lot bigger already. It kind of squenches up on the tips a then will expand out longer to form more fingers or longer fingers. Here’s a picture now and it’s only been about a month.

No branchlet drops but u can use a razor to slice off a nub and place it in some rubble in a calmer area of tank or basket til it attaches.
