What are these tiny white things all over my glass?

Hydroids haven't changed in millennia. The thread is still valid :D
Haha yes the hydroids themselves haven’t changed, but peoples opinions and knowledge on what is good and bad for a reef tank definitely has - that seems to change almost monthly

Primarily copepods, the stars look like hydroids. Looks like you need a mandarin! :) Like anything else in the reef, an availability in the food chain means something will fill it and thrive. In your case, nothing is predating your pods so they're having a field day with your glass algae.

Well I’ve always wanted to get a mandarin but didn’t feel I had the pod population to support one, I guess that has changed LOL

what have you got in there that could/should be eating the pods?
I had a tank in fallow, and after 2-3 weeks pods peppered the glass

Two clowns and a long nose butterfly in this tank, neither of which I have seen go anywhere near them. I assume my clean up crew won’t bother
