The blue acro colony. I received it as as a small frag a little over a year ago with no name. Any guesses? Some have said tort.

Looks like Acropora Austera to me... what people call a tort. I reserve the right to change my mind if a closeup gets posted.

California tort? Looks just like the one I had. Oregon tort is insanely blue, solid blue.

The cream/flesh colored middle reminds me of a Becker Tort. The plating growth pattern would be aberrant for this coral, but not unheard of. I feel confident that it is A. Tortuosa or A. Austera - people call either "torts" in the common tongue.

No definitely not a Cali Tort. I have one of those and the growth pattern on my Cali is more up than out even in high light. I do have a green tort that has a similar growth pattern but still haven’t figured it out yet.

Not every coral has a fancy name. If you received it as an unknown acro, then that’s what it is. It wouldn’t be right to call it something else because there’s a 99% chance it isn’t actually that corals lineage and just looks like it.

A name is supposed to mean this is the exact same coral, a frag taken from the named colony. Not just that it looks kind of like it.

I ‘m sure it had a fancy name at one time. The guy I got it from collects only named stuff. He just can’t always remember what was what. But yea I was just getting a consensus that it was a tort.
