Hello, I have a small red mantis that was a hitchhiker in someone elses tank. He is now rehomed in my 150 Gal mixed reef.
My question is what causes all the clicking sounds? ie why is the mantis shrimp punching the rocks? Is there a reason or trigger for it to do this?
It seems to do this a lot during daylight hours.
Thanks.

It’s building shaping pieces to build its den, or trying to dig further. It’s also probably cracking open empty shells looking for food.

All in all it’s a good thing.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
