I will be picking up a bottle of vodka also - but will not be using it in the tank. BTW - one thing you can do - about slime - since you're already doing water changes is - 1) either turkey baste it off or 2) siphon it out with water changes. Other non-slime producing bacteria will still grow - but you will gradually get rid of the slime

Thanks for the tip. So far slime has not been an issue, but may become one after I have been dosing for a while and bacterial reproduction really takes off. I will keep that in mind!

I have been dosing diy nopox for a few weeks now, i started at 10ml per day (total tank volume is prob 80-90 gallons) and after 2 weeks it was not going down, so i doubled it. Dosing 10 in the am and 10 about 2, and after a week of that, it is finally going down! Measured today at 16ppm! Holy cow though it fills up the skimmer cup twice a day which is about 3 quarts total. Now that nitrates have come back into testable range i am going to see if i can dial it in to keep it stable. I am thinking 10-15ppm. So far tank looks great, no weird slime or cyano outbreak, nothing out of the ordinary. Coral colors look a little more vibrant if anything too.

Thank you all for your input! Vodka and vinegar is basically liquid magic as far as i am concerned.
