Hi Folks,

I have been carbon dosing with vinegar for 4 months now and had to stop because of a real bad Cyano outbreak. I have since removed the Cyano from the tank (vacuum) and have stopped the vinegar dosing about 3 weeks ago. I have some pretty gnarly white fuzz in my sump that continues to grow and get bigger.

Do I leave this white fuzz / slime as is? Does the white fuzz / slime remove nitrate itself? Thanks.

those are sponges, and are usually desirable filter feeders.
Thanks. Do you know what type of sponges they are?

In regards to the white slime from carbon dosing, do I leave that in the tank or should I remove it? Thanks.

It's a pretty common kind of sponge. I don't know more specifics.
Slime from carbon dosing, I would usually export. Typically carbon dosing is done to export nutrients, so physical removal of the biomass that grows from the carbon dose will make more sense.
