bought mine in 2009 with 28k miles all before 70k I had a transmission transfer case rear end front differential 3 new computers all new 4 wheel drive actuators. Warranty ran out the next month. Started having problems at about 40k. And all that was done before I dropped it in the mud hole incase anybody was wondering lol

No judgement here, I loved my Saab, was crushed when they discontinued my model. Had to junk it after it got above 200k miles because I couldn't afford to fix the turbo and it wouldn't pass CA emission standards. The more people hated on Saab's, the more I loved mine. Beautifully ugly, lol. I will agree with the mechanics out there who hated working on them, jet engineers make things more complicated than they need to be.

Service, yes expensive, but if it only happens every 10K or so who cares.

Just like a reef tank.

I've been needing to get back into an STI as well...ever since we got rid of our last one we have just have a few other subarus, but always having dreams about getting it back...though next time it will be a STI swapped older Subaru...new ones weigh so much!

It's a 79. Sad thing is it isn't even mine! Redoing it for a friend who doesn't know how to do that sort of stuff. I have had a bunch of beetles in the past. Had a bus and had a 72 fastback for a while.

Sweet! We have 5 beetles, 1 in restored condition. We have this 75 super beetle right hand drive, which we are selling because we don't really feel like getting to it anymore and this is the restored 62. Engine and transmission are brand new and we just put them in. Then we have a 60, which we just put a super street transmission in along with a dual carb 1835. Then a solid body no rust 62 and a severely rotten 67 which is in the photo behind the super beetle.....its, pretty dead lol.
