What do you guys do about the electric?

So I am planning an upgrade, and something Im going to do is get LED's instead of my 200 Watt t5 current setup, BUT what ive notcied is that I will be likely exceeding the 200 watts of t5s if I switch to LED becuase my tank is 2' longer!!

And with the uv theres another like 40 watts almost constant, the return pumps ...everything!

I-ll also be moving it into a new room that has an AC and isnt in direct sun so it will be able to run cooler, but now I'm not sure if I can run the AC and a (n intended) SPS-Dominated 125!!!

forgive the bit of a rant but overall what are everyone elses experiences?

There are plenty of reef tank electrical calculators online. I bet you’d be surprised to find even with the T5 lights you probably don’t pay as much in electrical as you think.

The room is not going to be cooler if you add wattage. One watt for one hour is 3.42 BTUs of heat.

What size is the AC (read the nameplate wattage) and is it the only circuit in the room?

Yeah but dude the room where the old tank is right now, especially in summer, gets so so so so f’ing hot it’s insane … this room is constantly far cooler

I’m not sure. I “tested” running a high power vacuum, plugged into the outlet that new tank will be, I think it was 1200 watts, and the ac for a few minutes and was without a trip.

Also i just plugged a lamp into soon to be tank outlet and turned on ac and did not see the classic pulse/flash whatever that one sees when turning on an AC unit
