Hi running new tank for 4 months. Parameters are all ok. Phosphate is high (0.4 on Friday with LFS, salifert kit showing 0.25 today). Magnesium was also high 1550. This mushroom was doing really good. But for last 2-3 days it is behaving weird. Please check pictures for reference. What is the issue? Can anyone guess? Is it sick ? Or emerald crab done some damage?

It’s a new tank so doing a lot changes, which can affect mentioned as follows:
1. Added dry rock existing tank
2. Doubled the light intensity, have one fluval sea 32 watt light for 20 gallon, added another one.
Please help me what’s going on 20250613_075705.png

What about the rest of your tank is all of that doing fine?

Flow?

You said emerald crab could be bothering it. Anything else that could potentially be bothering it?

It chopped all my macro algae, molted twice in 1 month, grown 4-5 times than initiall size. Today morning I have seen some one probably chopped the Kenya tree. Don’t know what’s going on

Hi,
Can you tell us more about what you mean by “behaving weird”? The pictures look like a happy mushroom to me.
Change of any kind can have an effect on corals. They relish stability. So if you’ve done things like double the light intensity all of a sudden, that can cause the coral to respond in a negative way.

This is the coral now

This is before

My question is, can it survive? Do I need to do something to save it?

Unfortunately, the current picture doesn't show a lot of information. The before picture does. Try to get one of those of the shrooms current state.

I can't tell if it's bleaching, splitting, or throwing out filiments.

Can you take a top down picture like the ones you posted when it was doing good?
How long has the mushroom been in the tank? Did that happen since you doubled the intensity of your light?

This could be splitting. No signs of bleaching. I would just leave it alone and let her do shroom things. They look very nasty in the splitting process

my opinion is that this mushroom was very happy with the lower light. when you doubled the light intensity you stressed it, and in spite what others have said, i think it is in the process of deciding if it wants to melt away given that the white filaments are visible. I would recommend moving it out of direct light, put it near a front corner, or under an overhang with moderate to low light, mostly indirect.

Hello everyone, thanks for all your helpful suggestions and guidance in the recent past. An update I want to share, my mushroom looks much better now, I think it was splitting. Now the process is almost done. Being a new hobbyist I couldn’t know about it without all your help. So thank you again. Attached today’s photo for reference.
