What is going on here

I got these corals a week ago and all is doing well.. I woke up this morning and found this.. I know these two are in the same family so placement doesn't seem to be the issue.. this started this morning.. it doesn't look slimey like brown slime disease..

From what I understand about the family is all do not play friends together always. Maybe the one had something agitating it last night and it became more aggressive maybe? Definitely agree with treatment with a dip to help it recover hopefully.

Good to know. Been waiting for the perfect torch to go with my frogspawn... lol I knew they were more aggressive in nature with the extra long sweeper but, not towards their cousins? lol

Your correct.. it isn't the same family like I thought and the hammer was fighting the torch. I used revive for 10 minutes and got most of the brown off but I think it's to late:( should I put iodine on it now?

Should I put it in iodine or put iodine on it directly? After the brown came off it took most of the green with it..

The revive works more for parasites, LPS in general benefit more from Lugols because of its iodine component.

It's just like when some of us were kids, anyone remember tincture of iodine? That crap stings, but I never got an infection from climbing in the trees!

Hmm, I dont use revive. I do use coral rx. I think they are similar. When I dip I use both rx and lugols in the same container for 7-15 minutes depending on the type of coral. Swishing it around a few times.

I wonder if its safe to drip some iodine directly onto the infected part then rinse in a bowl of water before putting it back in the tank.

I'm not sure, but I'd just let them soak in the bath. I think the iodine could cause a little irritation in full strength.
I've got an acan with some recession because one of the ricordea decided to take a midnight swim, so I'm giving opinion while I'm working a similar problem. So far, the acan is still fleshing out and showing his feeding tentacles so maybe what I'm doing may be working. No signs of brown slime on my end.
