What is growing out of my favia and is it a favia?

My local LFS is pretty bad at coral ID and well... most everything else. I was hoping to replace a dragon soul favia but didn't want the online expense. This was the closest thing I could find locally.

I've had it for about 2 weeks and it's done well but I have no idea what is growing out of it's mouth. I thought it was waste at first but it seems to be more substantial.

Any help is appreciated.

That looks like its mouth. Sometimes they "pucker" like that.
