This one’s hard but I think ‘Favia’ takes it for me (purely because I have an Ironman ‘Favia’ and don’t own any Favites).

What's the current taxonomy classification of these two?
Also would love to see some colony pictures to illustrate the difference!

This, can anyone provide a good description of the differences?

Sure, (i think) @encrustingacro mentioned that true favia are not found in the hobby, what most of us consider favia are encrusting LPS that tend to have larger polyps and are more "meaty" than Favities, something that looks like this

While favities are smaller polyps, less meaty and tend to be cratered in unlike most favia

Hope that helped

Most former Favia are now Dipsastraea, although there are a few species moved to other genera, most notably: Goniastrea stelligera, Favites rotundata, and Astraeosmilia maxima. Favia used to be defined as corals with plocoid corallites and intracalicular budding, although us hobbyists use the name to apply to basically all merulinid brain corals, including Favites and Coelastrea.
