Edit: Zoom in on pictures to see black spots

A few weeks ago my phosphates went up. A green algae covering the glass came from this needed daily scraping. Very tough to remove, I couldn’t use the magnet cleaner not enough strength. I had to use a manual scraper. No problem just been feeding less. When I scrape it, the green algae floated around till it got sucked up.

Now there’s less green algae and a brownish black colored (algae?) appeared on the glass. Much easier to remove with magnetic scraper unlike the green algae.

Again the brown/black algae floats around till it gets sucked up. Did the algae get caught by the Xenia and snow day pipe organ coral? Or is this a disease? They do not look happy at all! Each polyp the has the goop on it is closed.

Algae? ..maybe circle what your talking about or point at it. Okay..... how old is your tank? What are your water parameters currrently? Algae is normal in a young tank and most tanks until more mature and with stability. You can net out the algae that floats away as you scrape if its that much floating around. Some of your corals look like they arent open fully and possibly stressed. Show us a whole tank photo with tank age and water parameters. Then someone might be able to help futher

Water parameters are the same as they have been for the last year only thing that changed was a spike to 25ppm of nitrates and phosphates less than 1 (or .1 can’t remember). Even then, the xenia has it the worst and they love dirty water anyway. If you zoom in on the pictures like I said and look at the corals I’m talking about. You will see black spots on them. It’s like this goop that’s stuck to them. Reminds me of brown jelly disease but it’s not, I have 10 torches in the tank they look as happy and clean as can be.

I’m referring to the black goop/spots on the polyps. Where the spots are the polyps are closed shut.

Yep i have zoomed in still not sure what your talking about.... Can you brush it off

I see the brown on the polyps....that could be just a damaged or sick coral. Maybe it got stung by neighboring coral...i dont know. Do you have some coral dip?....Try that see if it helps
