What is this coral?

I could have posted this in the coral section but I don't even know what kind it is so didn't even know what category to start with :)


Can someone tell me a little bit about this coral? Where should you put it in your tank? What it is called and where is the best place to get one?

Very forgiving. :-) I have my yellow low light and flow. (Center) and My green is high light medium flow. :-) (top right)

In my experience that exact shade of purple would probably prefer less light than more not sure about flow although the pic looks pretty still so I would probably say low

That color is a product of the lighting. Under natural lighting, the coral is not that color.

Yes but different strains thrive in different conditions. You get the purple due to a lack of the zooxanthellae color showing through. This can be caused by a low rate of growth or increased coral pigment.

I agree with lighting on color. Ive had the green yellows brown and the one your prolly looking for which is white/cream - it would pick up lighting like that and take on shades of the lighting (blue/purplish)
Also placed them in all kinds of spots with overall luck anywhere lol - of to the edges of high lighting or on the sandbed. Moderate flow to keep any debris building up on top of it

Tan toadstool leather should look like that under actinics. They're very common, most LFS should have some.
