What is this on my Birdnest

I have notice this on the base of my birdnest the other day. It is located around the plug. It's either white or black in color, tube like appearance, and hard to the touch. I first notice it on my frogspawn but though it was a new branch forming. Could you help me I.D. please?

The first two pictures are of the birdnest coral and the third picture is what it looks on the frogspawn.

What would the best way to remove from the frogspawn branching base? Would scraping and then cover in super glue work?

No need to superglue. If you are lucky, you can pluck it off at the base in one piece, but you'll probably have to crush it. The worm will be hiding in the base, so make sure you get it and not just the tube. Or just superglue without crushing works, but I prefer to remove it whenever possible.
