Translucent with some speckling, 1.5-2ish inches, hanging straight down from the top of a cave structure in my rock work, looks like an eggplant emoji. It’s in the dark, so not photosynthetic. And it doesn’t seem to be bothering my court jester goby who “owns” the cave.

Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

"eggplant emoji..." Not an expert, but according to your colorful description it has to be a sea *****.

Photo is a little blurry, but it's probably a sponge

It's all about the angle of the dangle.

Looks like a black sponge. A thread on reef central has something similar in appearance and was called "Bermudian Black Sponge". But my Google-fu must be bad today because I can't find any more information on it.

Thanks guys, much appreciated! A sponge seems like the best case scenario!
