What is this??

Glanced over at one of my acros tonight and saw some filmy black stuff coming out of one of the polyps. Never seen this before in my reefing life. Grabbed my camera which just happened to be at my feet but this is all i got. Any Ideas??

oh by the way. I watched it come out of the polyp like it was smoke! it wasnt just something that landed on it. made me double look and then say what the heck is that

For some reason it yells cyano to me.

^+1 I'd say it's just some discharge like Lps and any other coral does! Nothing to be worried about mine does that except much smaller amounts

Looks like cyano. stringy and all.
But if came from polyps........ thats totally different.
Could be zooanthelle. Did it disapate quickly? Could it have been spawning? (total guess on that one)

Could be discharge as stated above too.

yeah it disapated quickly as if it was smoke in the air. It happened again last night about 30mins later. very weird. I know its not bad or anything. i was just curious if anyone else has seen something like this. thanks for all the replies
