Could this be some type of green cyano?
I’m thinking your nitrates are too low. Did you get a chance to test?

Up with the nitrate (+3 ppm) if it is low and stir the sand every day. You
Do you have any theories on why this Cyano shows up when nitrate is low?

Hey Guys, my tank is back with more algae issues. I keep getting this green mat all over everything. I’ve kept my lights low as well. Here is my phosphate and nitrates which both look high. What should I do??? Thanks @Aqua Man @Lasse

Have you been stirring the sand every day or 2??
I would stir it up and do a small water change.

How are your coral looking? Is the Cyano only on the sand or is it on the rocks also?

It doesnt look like bryopsis I dont see any fern like algae in there. I just posted some other pictures….I think a tuxedo urchin might be the way to go, but my tank is only a 25 gallon so would that be too small?
I have a tuxedo urchin in my tank it’s a 13.5 and FWIW it’s always has something to graze on. You have a exceptional amount of algae, I’m sure you’ll be able to sustain a tuxedo.

Yeah I have been stirring up the sand, the mat of algae just comes back in a day or 2. The algae also builds up on some of the rocks on the sand as well. I only have GSP and some Zoas and they look fine. Some of the algae built up on my GPS though...

Hey guys, parameters are above for Phosphates and Nitrates. I am running my skimmer and used some Purigen to get rid of phosphates and everything is still high. I also have this mat of green algae that appears everyday on the substrate, rocks and on my GSP. Any idea on what else to do here?
