I built my own, with dual drain outlets. Working with and cementing acrylic is not difficult at all, especially if you have access to a table saw and a drill press. I couldn't imagine spending the big bucks for a 'name brand' item like this. Mine flowed about 1000 gph and was dead silent.
I was thinking about that. I don't like how many are lower on the external side. I don't know what else I would use black acrylic for. I checked and local it is $150 for a sheet of black 1/4" closed cell. I have a Shadow Overflow still in the box but I have seen some post showing them being loud. I thought of making a few and selling them to make my money back for the sheet. Like you said they would be easy. I would most likely make a template and use a router.

Unfortunately, you cant buy something you cant order. I tried to get one a few weeks back, they are AFK, even thier ebay listings say the seller is not at the helm. Not even thier website lets you order.

worth the wait from what I gathered doing research.
