What kind of fish is this?

lfs had him come in and didn’t know what he was, some sort of blenny I guess, paid $20 for him and he’s awesome

I'm love blennies but I'm not a Blenny expert. I'm leaning towards a black sailfin. But take that guess with a grain of salt. Maybe someone can pinpoint exactly what kind it is.

no blue, I have one that has blue lines, the blue spotted widow blenny but this one is different, he has a cool fin on his head

sure looks like mine, crazy thing is mine didn’t look like that when i got him, he was light in color similar to a scooter blenny in color. Now his dark and very pretty. I believe they had two of them, gonna buy the other for my other tank

Mine does the same. If it gets scared he turns light Gary or brown. He was labeled as a mud skipper at the LFS

The black combtooth's that i have seen have a continuous dorsal from the very front to the very back. Some sort of hybrid or sub species?

It appears that some juveniles in some species of the comb tooth have 2 that merge.

Like I said I'm not an expert on these fish, I'm just trying to help. The nice part of this is it's forcing me to do a little research. Hopefully someone that knows these fish can nail it down.
