what kind of Frogfish is this?

i recently purchased a frogfish im unsure of the species any guesses are appreciated i think its possibly a painted frogfish maybe warty or longlure but i doubt those i have yet to see its lure yet though here are a few pictures

Frogfish are so variable in color, it is often tough to say for sure what species you have. Any idea what region it came from?

It could be a longlure, but I can't rule out a pictus either.

Can’t help you with the ID but I do love his grouchy little face!

The only thing I can say for sure that it is an Antennarius species. The most common Antennarius available is the painted, the warty, and the giant; not a warty and the painted and giant get confused with each other often. Mostly because the giant, is just that, giant, and many shy away from them; so a lfs will just call it a painted. When they fan out their tail, the painted will have 3 eyespots.

It could be a longlure, but I can't rule out a pictus either.

I bet this guy will change in color as he gets older. Looks like a red one I had, he was jet black when I purchased him. I'd expect him to get to tennis ball sized in 2 years.

thats super cool! id love if he changed to red i recently purchased a second frogfish it is a sargassum sea frogfish figure id share this guy since everyone likes the last( they are both in separate systems) i have the painted frogfish in a 20 AIO the sargassum is a resident to my sump coming from my display tank he lives in the macro algae
