I want to set up a budget refugium in my sump and i looked at some brs videos which say white lights nit just pink ate better so you can see what you ate doing, what would be a good light for me to use. I am maybe thinking about a tunze eco chic refugium light. What do you use if you have one?

I use just red spectrum light for growth of macro algae.
I would turn on a separate white if I need that.

I am using a Tunze 10K light and it is growing Chaeto like crazy. I started with the smaller Innovative Marine light and it does not come close to the Tunze light in my tank. I have it on a timer using a cheap WiFi power strip from Amazon.

Thanks, what light specifically do you have if you can remember?
I never get brand stuff, this grow light for plants off Amazon, has two settings, grow red and bud blue, was about $75 bucks…..on a simple timer, 12 on.

Grows macro that’s 2 feet by 2 feet, 10” deep.

I put a Braun 800 lumen led clamp from harbor freight on mine. That's what I used to run on my old tank and it grew caulerpa great. I think it was like $12

I am using the tunze eco chic refugium light. I like it and it grows chaeto like crazy but I don’t think I can recommend it. Originally I purchased two of them. One is still in use after three years but the other died at the two year mark. Read some reviews and you’ll see they can be hit or miss. I had the same issue with the innovative marine refugium led’s. I would order a cheap plant led on Amazon and I’m sure it will last just as long and won’t be as painful to replace. I’ll buy another tunze when they start standing behind their product with a decent warranty period like their pumps.
