I have a 6 foot 180 gallon that I'm setting up and just want to get an idea on what kind of lights everyone is running in theirs. Please share you lights and some pics would be awesome
Thanks
Back in the day when I had a 180g tank (it leaked and was torn down about 4 or 5 years ago) I had a fixture with 3 MH and 4 t5 bulbs (32" long if memory serves me). That worked very well but in a house running A/C virtually 24/7 for 6 months of the year (SW Florida) they weren't my best idea. Then I got 2 EverGrow 32" led fixtures and they were great back when black box led fixtures were fairly new to the market. Now, Reef Breeders sells the Photon v2+ in a 32" length. It's made by EverGrow and sold by them as well outside the US. It has great PAR, spectrum control (6 channels), Cree & OSRAM leds (some 3 watts and some 5 watts thus the great PAR), sunrise & sunset control, it comes with both legs and hangers and it's a very good looking slimline fixture. Oh, and Reef Breeders is a sponsor here and has a forum where you can communicate with Logan the owner.
BTW, just to be clear, I have a 40g cube and a 16g spare tank and the both have Photon V2 fixtures.
You can see an old EverGrow 16" black box fixture over the 75g hexagon tank. There were two 32" fixtures under the canopy.
Today I use the Photon V2+ over my 40g cube. I sold the 120g tank and hardware about 2 years ago.
What are you going with coral wise? I started off with a 6 bulb 60” T5 and went with an 8 bulb T5 since I went mostly sps. The 6 bulb grew everything well though.
I have 3x kessil ap700s in a hybrid foxture running 4x 60 inch coral plus. Super happy with this setup, growth, spectrum, slimness, efficiency, ease of instal. That being said kessil’s moon setting and app for the ap700s are not great.
I have 3 Radion XR30 Pro 3rd gen and 2 60” T5 retrofit on my 210. Glad I only went with 3 of the Radions. Have no idea why I would’ve needed 6, as people were suggesting.
