What makes something ultra?

Is there any standards that make something actually Ultra or is just a sellers opinion? Such as ultra acans and things like that.

Have you seen a vendor sell an acan that wasn't an "Ultra"

Its pretty much just something to set it apart. EVERYTHING is ultra and LE nowadays. So I don't really pay attention to that anymore. I'm sure it still get newer reefers attention though, like it did me in the beginning.

I judge by the color.

I do wish that vendors would use the word "ultra" for something that truly was ultra. same with rainbow, le, etc. sometimes you see a grade a or b acan labeled ultra rainbow...LOL yea right!

That is what I thought, I just didnt know if Ultra was reserved for something like 6 or more colors. Too bad there isnt a standard.

Well, when I worked at the fish store heres how it went down.

They had Ultra grade, 1st grade and 2nd grade.

Anything "Ultra" grade was usually what you wanted as 2nd grade SPS were brown, LPS were boring and so forth... first grade got you some decent colored stuff... nothing too exciting at all really.... and ultra grade is anything decent or awesome you see now. Big price difference also. Also, this is from the wholesaler.
