That looks fantastic. I actually forgot to try to include the fact that my tank gets A TON of natural sunlight. I bleached a mushroom at the floor on my tank; dang it. Luckily it was a hitch-hiker.

I've scaled my peaks back significantly due to the sheer amount of natural light. I now peak at R. Blue: 20; white: 20; Light Blue: 20. I'm noticing more creatures coming out at these light conditions. I'll take a picture when I get back from San Diego.

Gah; the next challenge is the information provided. For example: BattleCorals says theirs get "Blasted" - they use the ReefBreeders several feet up at all out; but no PAR. Unique Corals has actual PAR numbers they provide on their site; and then BRSTV has some suggestions of attempting to acheive 200-350 across the entire tank as best as possible.

If I look at unique corals; they keep sps at 200-250; lps at 100-ish and softies at around 100.

The great thing about these ReefBreeder lights & this estimator is I could literally nuke the tank if I wanted to all the way down to gentle moon-like night time settings with black lights. The only limiting factor is my knowledge as to what to set these lights at...which is a very big limiting factor currently.

Does anybody have their lighting schedule; model they are using; tank size, a picture and general data on what corals they have where?

I see par at the actual corals around 500-600 in the shallow led prop tank.

Really? You do all spa though, right? Do you have other corals at that intensity and if so how did they get introduced?

I believe that Logan developed his par chart in the open air not under water. I have asked him but never got a reply. From what I have read this is not necessarily bad, in fact perhaps it is a more accurate reading than it would be under water unless adjustments were made to account for the immersion effect.

I have tried numerous settings in an attempt to find the sweet spot. Currently I am at 0,0,50,15,50,50 for 4 hours with a ramp up and ramp down.

photon length tank dimensions, how high above the water is the fixture?these all need to be taken into account IMO.

My tank is 48x24x20 and the lights are 8" off the water. I have the Photon 48 v2.

mine is 48 x24 x 24 same light 12” above and this below seems to be sweet spot so far things are really coloring up well.

So I got a par meter today and boy were my predictions off.

Again I run my lights at 60:24 (blues: non blues) and my par at the top of my rocks was about 800 and sandbed was 350. I’m going to dial these things back and retest my par levels and go from there.

Are you saying that par estimator is off by over 100%?? The estimator says you numbers should be about 350 par at 6" below the water line. Something does not make sense or I am missing something.

I tried 70 on the blues for a while and my sps started to bleach so I dialed it back. Everything is starting to look better but in a month or so I may kick it up a bit. I don't use the greens or reds. I don't think they do much if anything for growth but there may be some visual effects.

i get it I had my blues at 90% which was doing the same. This light is super powerful. top of my rock work is 18-20” below the light everything stays happy now.

JT like you, I have tried a number of different settings in an effort to find that sweet spot.
I have two Photon 32's over a 150 gallon tank (72" L x 18" W x 27" T). The lights sit in a canopy approx. 8 inches off the water. I have the older version of this light in that it has five 5watt warm white leds per cluster for a total of 20 5watt white leds per light.

After reading World Wide Corals Lighting recommendation on the F.A.Q. section of there web site. I settled on their 10 hr. schedule of 3 hrs. of blue light, 4 hrs. of white/blue in the middle of the schedule, and 3 hrs. of blue at he end. I have a one hour ramp in the morning and a two hour ramp down in the evening.

Currently the lights are set at 20, 20, 55, 10, 55, 55 for both ramp up and down. The middle four hours are set at 20, 20, 60, 20,60, 60.

Par readings for the three hour photo periods average 230 14 inches below the water surface. Par readings for the four hour photo period average 260 with an occasional hot spot of three hundred.

I’m not sure what to believe. Since switching my softies and lps do seek to have better polyp extension but sps growth has stopped. Two acropora rtn overnight. I might just slowing ramp the power up again and watch slowly instead of chasing numbers.

The PAR estimator is just that! An estimate. There is definitely going to be some variability and it is not 100% accurate. If more of you guys could share your readings that will help me make adjustments to improve the accuracy.

How do these compare to v1? I am an original customer I run 4 photon 48s on my 420g display . Blues 100% whites 50? Was thinking about upgrading but mine seem to have always been great and still doing it . Thinking about lowering my par as well .
