Up until a few months ago, I fed all of my fish this. Quite a few of the fish seemed to eat it, and it was my primary vegetative feed. I then switched to this, and was amazed to see that everything ate this, including some unexpected guests, such as the matted filefish. I then tried a variety of alga, and came up with the following list of livestock that will feed on them:

Red nori ("certified organic raw"): almost all fish that will eat vegetative foods, and many inverts. Halymenia in the tank left alone.

Green nori ("Sea Snax"): most herbivores; snails

Dulse: no takers

Purple ("Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies"): a few nibbles from the herbivores, but little serious interest; the halymenia in the tank was eaten first.

dried giant kelp in the macrocystis family: nothing except fromia monilis. I've never seen sea stars move quickly, but two of my three came from (where??) and latched on to it within the first five minutes of putting it in the tank. And then munched big holes in the piece before moving on.

Has anyone else tried another dried species?
